Sadikichi Award for Experimental Scent Finalist

Pleased to announce that my multispecies project, “Every Word Was Once an Animal," was shortlisted for the Sadakichi Award for Experimental Work with Scent by the Institute of Art and Olfaction, Los Angeles. Judged by an international pool of curators, theorists, and artists, the project is one of five finalists for the award.
The project includes a perfume based on Western fence lizard scent pheromones. Created in collaboration with lizard researchers, the perfume, titled Sceloporus,, is a surprisingly fresh yet animalic scent that blends with the wearer’s own skin chemistry to create a soft, sheer, more-than-human presence.
The Art and Olfaction Awards event will take place in a public ceremony at Oude Kerk, Amsterdam, on May 2, 2019.
Many thanks to perfumer Jessica Hannah and lizard researcher Dr. Emilia Martins for their generous help with the project.
